👋 Welcome Aboard

This is our no-fuss, no-legal-jargon agreement between you and the Xarl team. Just by opening and using Xarl on your iPhone, you’re on board with the terms below. No signatures, no hoops to jump through, no account required—you can use every feature the second you install the app.

For anyone new: Xarl is your private life mistake journal. Snap a photo of the moment, jot notes across 4 quick fields (situation, choice, result, lesson), tag entries by Work, Relationship, Health, Finance, Social or any custom categories you make, browse records on your timeline, track your weekly reflection streak, and generate fun annual report posters saved straight to your Photos.

🔑 No Login, Ever

We hate mandatory sign-up flows as much as you do. You get full access to every single Xarl feature immediately after download, no email, no phone number, no social media login needed. We don’t want any of your personal identifiable information, full stop.

🗂️ Your Data Stays Only On Your Device

Every single thing you log in Xarl lives exclusively on your iPhone. No uploads to our servers, no built-in cloud sync, no third-party access to your entries. Your reflection text is encrypted locally on your device, so even if someone gets their hands on your phone, your notes stay private.

• We will never scan, read, or analyze the content of your journal entries for any reason
• We will never share, sell, or leak any of your usage data to any person or company
• You have full control of all your content: edit, delete, or archive entries whenever you want, no questions asked
• If you uninstall Xarl, all your data will be erased from your device unless you’ve backed it up via your own iPhone backup settings (like iCloud)

✅ How You Can Use Xarl

You’re welcome to use Xarl for all your personal reflection needs, including but not limited to:

• Logging all your small and big missteps to avoid repeating them later
• Creating custom tags for any niche area of your life you want to track
• Generating and sharing your annual reflection posters with friends or on social media
• Using filters and the chronological timeline to revisit past lessons whenever you need a reminder

We only ask that you don’t use Xarl to store content that harms, threatens, or invades the privacy of other people. Use the app kindly and responsibly.

❌ What We Will Never Do

• We will never show you random ads inside the app
• We will never track your app usage for marketing or advertising purposes
• We will never lock core existing features behind a paywall. If we ever add optional premium features, all current free features will stay free forever
• We will never send you push notifications you didn’t explicitly turn on in your device settings

⚙️ Feature Ground Rules

• Annual report posters are saved directly to your device’s Photos app. We don’t keep copies, you can delete or share them as you please.
• Your weekly reflection streak is calculated locally on your device. If you reset your phone or uninstall the app, your streak will reset unless you restore from a personal backup.
• All features (archive filters, timeline view, entry editing, streak tracking) work 100% offline. No internet connection is ever required to use Xarl.

🔄 Agreement Updates

If we ever make changes to this agreement, we’ll post the updated version in the Settings tab of the app and update the effective date at the top. If you keep using Xarl after the new version goes live, that means you’re okay with the changes. If you don’t agree with the new terms, you can uninstall Xarl at any time, no hard feelings.
